MiArt 2012
MiArt 2012, 17th edition. From the 13th to the 15th of April, Milan, the capital of the Italian art market, is the site of a crucial period of meetings and cultural exchanges for the annual appointment with MiArt, which once again this year presents a selection of the most preeminent galleries of the art world which consider Milan as the strategic exhibition hub for their clientele. MiArt’s artistic director Frank Boehm underlines the continuity of the two worlds, the contemporary and the modern, which are purposefully brought together within the same time frame in a single, completely renovated exhibition venue. A choice which in the intentions of the new director, who is also the artistic director of the event, is expressly designed to highlight the mutual contaminations so as to provide the best possible presentation of the period on show which runs from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day. -

MiArt 2012: modernist and contemporary
A new project by Frank Boehm is taking shape for the upcoming edition of MiArt, the trade fair that aims to be consistent and in line with the spirit of the city that hosts it. A city that not only in the imagination of foreigners is the productive and creative heart of the country and has been capable of setting the guidelines for architecture, fashion, and design for over a century now. Milan is both modern and contemporary, and the capital of the art market. -

FRANK BOEHM DIRECTOR OF MIART 2012
The Fiera Milano show dedicated to art and the art market will have a new face and a new voice. Frank Boehm will be the artistic director at the next MiArt show, which will open in fieramilanocity on 13 April 2012. The landmark event for art galleries organised by Fiera Milano has decided to undergo significant restyling, beginning with the choice of a figure that is able to reconcile, in a single concept, the formula of the show with the requirements of gallery owners and artists, and put them in increasingly closer contact with art buyers. This is a first for MiArt: never before have they entrusted a single expert with the supervision of the show. -
Conferences and Talk Shows organised by Peep-Hole (Vincenzo de Bellis and Bruna Roccasalva)
The conference cycle that takes place during MiArt is a chance to meet top-ranking figures from the contemporary art scene and gives the public access to direct knowledge of important aspects of the international art world. It also encourages lively exchanges of ideas, through debates involving both individual artists who are invited to talk about their work, as well as several personalities who will discuss various themes. -
MiArt Catalogue
The MiArt 2011 catalogue, published by Silvana Editoriale, is an authentic art book: edited by Giorgio Verzotti, it contains the second essay attempting to reconstruct the history of Italian art, as seen through the galleries. After considering the outcome of the neo-avant-garde movement, with a special eye to Arte Povera, a critical analysis follows the years, the events and the places of the return to figurative art: from the first return, compressed between the two wars (1918-1938), to the more recent one inspired by the Transavantgarde movement. Accompanying the text, an unpublished selection of photographs taken by Mimmo Jodice especially for MiArt. After Gabriele Basilico’s eye and the ‘colour’ vision of Armin Linke, we have the ‘romantic’ reading of Jodice to again study more deeply a Milan that is discovered in its details and in its atmospheres. -
A hundred galleries. Art from the early 20th century until today
A hundred galleries, the top international artists, one hall, four days of fair. After two years of excellent results, both in terms of business and of participants, MiArt 2011 sets its sights on excellence in the art system, by making a further selection of galleries, presenting itself to the market and the public as one single fair hosting Italy’s most important galleries.
